We have become aware of an urgent need in our global community and believe that if we can work together in our local community, we can make a difference globally.

In the beginning of February a team of people left the comforts of White Rock to see how they could bring practical help to the people of Haiti. The team was able to provide care for many families by setting up medical clinics, feeding stations, and by bringing hope to many kids and adults by spending time with them.

Once they arrived back home we talked about what the most urgent needs Haiti has at this stage of the aftermath of the 7.0 earthquake. With the Caribbean “rainy season” arriving, it has become apparent that the way to meet the greatest need is to provide tents for SHELTER. After doing some research to find the fastest and most efficient way to get tents into Haiti, we found an initiative called www.ahomeinhaiti.org. We are initiating a local tent drive connected with that movement. Here is a quote from their website (written before the rainy season started) “In just a few days, it will begin to rain regularly in Haiti. Could you imagine living outside, permanently, in the rain, with nothing but cloth sheets held up by sticks to protect you? Currently, this is set to be the very harsh reality for over 700,000 Haitian men, women, and children who still have nothing to protect them from the elements.” It would be amazing to be able to say that our community rallied together to contribute over a thousand tents to the people of Haiti.
Please give (see the links in the top right). There is also the opportunity to work with Jeff and/or Sara to host an event that can raise funds towards this cause. Contact us via email.
